She dressed in all of her fineries, and, with only one handmaiden for company, went to dress in rags and shave off her beautiful blonde hair.

When her father found out she had left, he was enraged. He tried to bring her back by force, but, when she pulled off her veil and showed him that she had shaved her head, he relented. She eventually founded an order of nuns, for whom she was an example of piety and humility.

Clare was so pious and humble, in fact, that the Pope wanted to have her canonized immediately upon her death. Even today, she is a shining example of the virtues of courage, devotion, and faith.

The Miracles Of Saint Clare

Throughout her life, Saint Clare performed many miracles that helped to show the power of her faith and her devotion to God.

One of the most famous miracles associated with Saint Clare took place when she was living in a convent. The city she lived in was being attacked by enemies, and the people were frightened for their safety. Saint Clare prayed to God for protection, and when the attackers came to the doors of the convent, they were unable to enter.

Instead, they saw a vision of Saint Clare holding the monstrance, which is a container for the consecrated host, and a blazing star shining from the monstrance. The attackers were so frightened by the vision that they retreated, and the city was saved from harm.

Another miracle associated with Saint Clare involved her healing powers. She was known to have cured many people who were suffering from various ailments, such as eye diseases, simply by laying her hands on them and praying.

People who witnessed these healings were amazed, and many of them came to believe that Saint Clare was a saint sent from God to help them.
