Maximón: Guatemala's Mysterious Folk Saint
Explore the story of Maximón, also known as San Simón, the revered Maya deity and Catholic folk saint of Guatemala.
Blessed Sebastian of Aparicio (Sebastián de Aparicio) was a Spanish-born Franciscan lay brother who lived in the 16th century. He is known for his remarkable holiness, charity, and contributions to society. After immigrating to Mexico, he dedicated his life to serving God and his fellow human beings.
Despite his significant contributions to society, Blessed Sebastian lived a life of great humility, simplicity, and detachment from worldly possessions. He embraced a life of poverty, offering his earnings to the poor and those in need. His acts of charity and compassion earned him the title "The Angel of Mexico."
